# Perform a redeposit

A _redeposit_ is a transaction that moves your wallet’s bitcoin to a new [address](https://glossary.blockstream.com/address-bitcoin/) within your wallet.

If you are using a Bitcoin 2-of-2 or Liquid standard wallet, you will be prompted to redeposit any funds in your wallet that have not moved for 12 months (or a custom timelock period). The redeposit is required to refresh the timelock used in [the Blockstream app's special multisig security model](https://helpcenter.dxp-frontend.devserver.app/blockstream-app/manage-2fa-accounts/2fa-multisig-protection-explained).

[If you have funds in your wallet that use legacy nLockTime timelocks](https://helpcenter.dxp-frontend.devserver.app/blockstream-app/manage-2fa-accounts/how-do-nlocktime-timelocks-work), you will receive the notification prompting you to complete a redeposit via email (you need to set up an email address to receive nLockTime notifications).

> **Warning:** If the timelock expires, you can spend the funds in your wallet without two-factor authenticator (2FA) confirmation until you complete a redeposit.

## Perform a redeposit

1.

Navigate to the **Transact** tab, then tap **Receive** and copy a new address from your wallet.

Next, tap **Send** and past the address to send funds back to yourself. Make sure to select **Send all** to ensure that all expired coins are redeposited and the timelock is reset.
