# Lost recovery phrase

If you have lost your word recovery phrase, it is important to understand what that means for your wallet access and funds.

The recovery phrase is the **only way** to restore access to your Blockstream wallet if your device is lost, damaged, or reset.

> **Warning:** Blockstream does not store your recovery phrase and cannot retrieve it for you under any circumstances.

Without your recovery phrase, you will not be able to:

- Restore your wallet on a new device
- Access your bitcoin if the app is uninstalled or the device is wiped
- Recover funds if your device is lost or stolen

If your current device is still functional and your wallet is accessible:

1. Open the wallet app.
2. Go to the **Security** tab.
3. Locate the option to view or back up your recovery phrase under the **Recovery Method** section.
4. Write down the 12 or 24 words and store them in a secure, offline location.

If you no longer have access to the device, and you do not have the recovery phrase saved elsewhere, **you cannot recover your funds**.

We strongly recommend writing down your recovery phrase when first setting up the wallet and storing it safely.
