# Enable Lightning

## Lightning is Experimental

Lightning is currently an experimental feature in the Blockstream app. By enabling Lightning through Experimental Features, you have agreed to use them at your own risk. These features might change, break or be discontinued at any time. 

Our engineering teams are working on ways to improve the in-app Lightning experience for you and releasing new updates as soon as we are confident in them. 

If you experience any issues with Lightning, don’t hesitate to [contact our support team online](https://help.blockstream.com/hc/en-us/requests/new?ticket%5Fform%5Fid=8613) or through the app.

## Enable Experimental Features

1.

Open the Blockstream app. From the home page, tap the **Wallet icon** in the top right.

Tap the **three dots** in the top-right corner to open **App Settings**.

3.

Within App Settings, turn on the **Enable experimental features** toggle. **Save** your settings.

## Enable Lightning Within Your Wallet

After enabling Experimental Features, you will need to enable Lightning inside your wallet’s settings.

1.

Select the wallet you’d like to enable Lightning on.

Tap **Settings**.

3.

Tap **Lightning** under the **Account Settings** section.

4.

Tap **Enable Lightning**.

5.

You should see a green **Lightning enabled successfully** confirmation at the top of your screen. Now you are free to start sending and receiving Lightning bitcoin with your wallet!
