The odds of mining a block with Jade are **extraordinarily low** and **you should** **not expect to earn any bitcoin** by following these instructions. This feature is best for using Jade as a lottery miner, for educational purposes, or as a way to track the current Bitcoin [block height](https://glossary.blockstream.com/block-height/) on your Jade. [Upgrade your Jade](https://jademiner.blockstream.com/upgrade/fwupgrade.html) to the miner supported firmware. You can [switch back](https://jadefw.blockstream.com/upgrade/fwupgrade.html) to a non-miner supported firmware at any time. 2. Visit the [companion webpage](https://jademiner.blockstream.com/) and **plug in your Jade**. You will need to use a browser that supports Web Serial (e.g. Chrome). Your Jade will begin mining automatically. There is no need to initialize your device or access a wallet. You can view the current block height and your hash rate on Jade, as well as the block reward and the address that will receive bitcoin from a luckily mined block. > **Tip:** Jade will stop mining once you reboot it or once it receives another message from a companion wallet or device.
