### How does a passphrase work on Jade?

Enabling a passphrase gives you the ability to add an extra layer of security to your funds by requiring an additional piece of information to access your wallet. Jade uses the BIP39 passphrase standard.

SeedQR is a standard developed by SeedSigner for encoding a recovery phrase as a human-transcribable QR code. Simply put, it is another way to store a recovery phrase—except as a QR code instead of a list of 12 or 24 words.
